Real examples of outreach email templates

You’re about to write an outreach email. You open your Outlook or Gmail, you type the blogger’s email address and then… you’re stumped. I get it, I’ve been there! Writing outreach emails is much trickier than you’d initially think.

A great outreach email does four things:

  1. It starts building a relationship with the influencer, by showing you know who they are and what they like
  2. It clearly states the purpose of getting in touch, with minimal beating around the bush
  3. It provides value – what can you offer them?
  4. It ends with clear actionable steps for the influencer – what do you want them to do next?

I’d written some tips in this blog post a couple months ago, which is definitely worth a read before sending outreach emails to influencers. To follow up on that post, I’ve provided two templates for two different kinds of outreach emails below. Feel free to use them of course (that’s the point!), but remember, personalisation is key!

Email Template #1

If you’re aiming for a link back to your content

“Hi,

Hope you are well. My name is [NAME] and I work at [COMPANY]. [More details on company if the brand is not well-known].

I wanted to share with you my new article about [TOPIC]. It features [Details about the article, including any experts or influencers featured]. I thought you might be interested in checking it out – if so, you can read it here.

I’ve noticed you have a lot of really great related content on your blog, such as [Related article and why you like it]. If you think my article is a fit for your audience, I’d be glad to have you republish it or share it on social media J Let me know what you think!

Thank you for your time and have a great day,

[YOUR NAME AND ROLE]”

Email Template #2

If you’re interested in collaborating on a content campaign

“Hi,

Hope you are well. My name is [NAME] and I work at [COMPANY]. If you don’t know about us, we are [more details on company if the brand is not well-known].

I wanted to talk to you about the possibility of collaborating together on an exciting project! I believe our audiences are very similar: [More details on audience demographics]. Joining forces to co-create some great content could be very beneficial for your readers, your blog and our brand.

Let me know your availability in the next few days or weeks for a quick call about this!

Thank you for your time and have a great day,

[YOUR NAME AND ROLE]”

What about the subject line?

I am a firm believer in straight-forward subject lines that clearly explain what your email is about. Do not try to ‘trick’ the influencer into reading your email as chances are, once they figure out what you want, they’ll delete it.

Instead, write an honest subject line such as “New article you’ll like: [Article title]” Or “Collaboration proposal with [Brand]”.
